Winter
Dec – FebThe blacktip migration stacks bait and sharks along the beaches. Cool water, big schools, steady action within casting distance of the sand.

The Coastline
From Haulover Cut to Port Everglades, the Miami to Fort Lauderdale corridor drops into deep water fast. Big sharks hunt the first sandbar all year — and the law tells you exactly where and when you can meet them.
The Legal Windows
Land-based shark fishing in South Florida runs on municipal windows — some beaches are open around the clock, most open at sunset. We treat the table below like a tide chart: it decides where the rods go tonight.
The law sends you out at night — exactly when the giants feed.
Miami-Dade
Designated fishing area at Baker's Haulover Cut. The inlet current carries scent off the beach around the clock.
All Hours
Miami
Open causeway and island shoreline with deep water close to the rocks, and the rare stretch that is legal in daylight.
All Hours
Broward
Shore fishing runs sunset to morning. The beach empties, the lights come on behind you, the bite turns on in front.
6:00 PM – 9:00 AM
Broward
Legal outside the swimming day and 100+ yards from the pier, which makes the early window as usable as the late one.
Before 9:00 AM · After 6:00 PM
Broward
A full night window on one of the most famous beaches in America. Rods out by dark, packed up before breakfast.
6:00 PM – 8:00 AM
Closed to shark fishing. We do not fish them, ever. A night that starts with a citation is a ruined night.

Seasons
The blacktip migration stacks bait and sharks along the beaches. Cool water, big schools, steady action within casting distance of the sand.
Hammerheads follow the tarpon up the coast. This is the season of the true giants — long runs, heavy leaders, releases in the wash.
Bulls and nurse sharks work the warm, calm surf. Flat water makes the paddle out easy, and you can let a bait soak as long as it takes.
The baitfish flush pours down the coast and everything eats. Mullet on the beach usually means sharks behind them.
None of this is guaranteed. Sharks move on bait, water temperature, and moon, so every trip gets planned around what the water is doing that week.
The Strange Truth
“You fish the same sand as the high-rises and the cruise ships. Behind you, a city of six million. Eighty yards in front of you, a shark heavier than everyone on the beach.”
