Miami-Dade's parks close at sunset and Miami Beach has banned shark fishing, so our night trips for Miami groups run a short drive north, on Hallandale and Hollywood Beach.

Where We Fish
A short drive north, legal after dark.
Miami groups fish the first two beaches over the county line. Both open to anglers at 6 p.m. Exactly where we set up depends on the tide, the wind, and where the bait is that night, and we check every spot against current FWC and city rules before we rig a rod.
Hallandale Beach
The closest of our night beaches to Miami, just over the county line. Fishing in the swim areas opens at 6 p.m., and the deep water sits close to the sand all along this stretch.

Hollywood Beach
A long, open beach a few minutes further north. Shore fishing runs from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m., so the whole night is there to fish, and the beach empties out once the sun goes down.

The Water
The Gulf Stream runs closer to shore here than almost anywhere in the United States.
Off most American coasts, blue water is a long boat ride away. Off this stretch of coast, the shelf is narrow and the warm current presses in tight: deep water, bait highways, and big migratory sharks within kayak range of the sand.
That geography is why this works. We kayak a bait out past the sandbar, the current carries the scent, and big sharks come within reach of the beach.
Miami Beach
“Isn't shark fishing banned on Miami Beach?”
Yes. The City of Miami Beach banned land-based shark fishing in 2026, and we don't fish there. Haulover and Virginia Key are county and city parks that close at sunset, so they're off our night list too. That's why Miami groups fish Hallandale and Hollywood Beach, where the sand opens to anglers at 6 p.m.
